FAQ Page
Hopefully this page should have the answer to your query - if not, scroll down to the bottom of the page and ask us!
I want to buy a membership - why are they no longer available?
Sorry about that! We’re currently in the process of launching the next iteration of Deliberate Travel Kids so access is restricted currently. Pre-sales of our latest product will be available in time for Christmas - you can read more about it below.
Please leave your email address if you’d like to be notified when our new product, Just the Ticket, is ready for purchase.
How does Just the Ticket work?
After you purchase a journey (3, 6 or 12 months) you’ll receive access to the platform via email and your child will receive a Travel Pack in the post.
The Travel Pack contains:
A DTK Map to track your route
A DTK Passport to fill with stamps
35 stickers (some for fun, some with a purpose)
An info pack for grown ups
Postcards to send to friends and family
At the beginning of each month your child will receive a postcard in the mail, telling them which country we’re travelling to. On the back of a postcard is a QR code (and URL) leading them directly to the workbook.
Are the workbooks online or offline?
The workbooks are a mixture of online and offline activities. Every country comes with printable worksheets to complete - this includes the Answer Grid which guides kids through the online and offline activities.
Please Note: You need a printer and internet access to complete Just the Ticket
Do I need my own printer?
Yes. DTK workbooks are printed at home (or at a nearby copy shop). Each workbook comes with printable worksheets which are around 10-12 sheets. These need to be printed out before the workbook can be completed.
If you do not have a printer, or do not wish to print workbooks then this product is not suitable for you.
What happens at the end of a workbook?
Once the Answer Grid is filled in, it will reveal a vertical word. At the end of the country webpage children are prompted to type their answer in. If it’s correct, they will go through to a Congratulations page. The Congratulations page includes various goodies and extra learning opportunities, such as quizzes, recipes, physical challenges or printable postcards.
On the Congratulations page, kids will also find out which sticker goes in their passport for that country.
How do we complete the online workbooks?
The online workbooks will look a little different to what you’re used to. Rather than a simple downloadable PDF, new DTK workbooks will be on a webpage, available after you’ve subscribed. The activities will be on the webpage. You’ll be able to download an Answer Grid for kids to write their answers in. Some activities will be interactive, like quizzes, drag and drops or multiple choice quizzes. Other activities will involve printing a few pages to complete.
Which countries are part of Just the Ticket
The countries we will travel to this year are:
Iceland
Wales
France
Spain
Morocco
Egypt
Russia
Vietnam
Japan
Australia
Mexico
Brazil
These workbooks are the only workbooks currently available. If you have already completed most of these workbooks, then Just the Ticket is not the right product for you.
Where do the workbooks begin?
As Just the Ticket is a bus, people can jump on at any point in the journey and we all travel together. We start in Iceland in January and travel onwards, so if you join later in the year you’ll join us in the country we’re currently travelling to.
Here’s a calendar showing where we’ll be each month.
If you buy a 12-month journey, you’ll make up the countries in the next year.
Do I receive a physical product?
Yes!
When you purchase Just the Ticket you’ll receive a Travel Pack with all the equipment you’ll need to complete the journey. The Travel Pack will include:
A Map of the World
A Just the Ticket passport
An info pack for parents
Additional postcards to send to friends and family
A sheet of stickers
Your child will also receive postcards in the post each month, giving them access to the workbook for the country we’re travelling to each month.
How much does a Just the Ticket journey cost?
There are 3 Just the Ticket options available:
The Full Journey (12 months)
Halfway Round (6 months)
The Mini Journey (3 months)
Please be aware that postcards are sent out at the beginning of each month. If you wish to extend your journey (i.e. add a Halfway Round journey to your initial Mini Journey) please let us know in plenty of time, otherwise you risk missing a month.
Can I cancel my journey?
Unfortunately not. As the product is bought as a 3, 6 or 12 month version, it isn’t possible to cancel your journey part way through. If you are concerned that your child may not enjoy Just the Ticket you have two options.
You can try out a workbook for free, by clicking here.
You can also buy a 3-month journey, then continue with another 3-month (or 6 month!) journey after that.
If you’re really unhappy with our product because of quality issues, please get in touch with us.
Can I try out a DTK workbook beforehand?
Yes!
We can’t send out Travel Packs or postcards to try, but you can try out our Lapland workbook which will give you an idea of how the online workbooks work.
The Lapland workbook is about Lapland/Sapmi and Christmas and includes activities like:
learning about the Sami peoples (including how to make sure you’re being polite!)
tracking different animals through the snow using their prints
drawing a scientific diagram explaining the Aurora Borealis
researching reindeer adaptations
discovering the names of Father Christmas around the world

What sort of activities are in the workbook?
There are so many different activities across our workbooks!
Some are relatively simple, like wordsearches while others are more complicated, like a Cactus SuDoku or a Story Maze. Activities are almost always a combination of online activities combined with a printable sheet (for kids to write down the answer).
For a better understanding of our activities, check out the page How It Works or take a look at our social media for some examples.
I don’t understand an activity! What should I do?

Check the Answers Page to find out the answer to the activity if you truly can’t wait!
I’ve found a mistake!
What should I do?
Sometimes mistakes slip past us, either online or in the printed worksheets. Don’t worry though, they can be easily fixed! Just click on the ‘I’VE FOUND A PROBLEM’ button at the top of the page and fill in some details of the mistake you’ve found.
We’ll fix it as soon as we can (one of the benefits of an online system) and we’ll be eternally grateful to you for helping us fix a mistake 😊
